Mango will always and forever bring me back to my childhood. I grew up in a house with a big backyard that was completely littered with mangoes during this time of the year. Interestingly enough, the tree wasn’t ours. It was our neighbor’s. But am pretty certain we scored the majority of the fruit by sheer luck of the draw. There’s just something about mango.
This refreshing tropical smoothie is perhaps one of my favorites, if not my favorite. The best part: it’s incredibly simple and different. Simplicity is good, particularly when you’re rushed during a busy weekday morning-trying to get everyone out of the house on time. Enjoy!!
- 1 very ripe mango
- 1 frozen banana cut into chunks
- 2 kiwis sliced
- 1 cup of fresh pineapple chunks
- 1 cup of almond milk*/ OR cashew milk/OR coconut milk
- 3-4 mint leaves
- Some ice for texture
- A tablespoon of hemp hearts for protein
Blend on high for 25-30 seconds and breakfast is ready.
*I use carrageenan free almond milk as a precautionary measure, as carrageenan has been linked to cancer by some preliminary studies.
