Berry Matcha Green Smoothie

The difference a few years of healthy living makes! I never though I would say this: but I thoroughly enjoy a loaded green smoothie. Not so much the juice-like consistency ones, I mean real deal creamy packed with greens and frozen veg kinda smoothie. I like the texture to be more on the thick side. The type that can only be achieved by freezing some veggies like zucchini (or cauliflower) and throwing in some avocado, which could be frozen, as well. I added frozen bananas for sweetness, but you don’t have to. A lot of you have asked me for banana-free smoothies and the answer to unrefined sweetness substitutes is adding 1-2 pitted dates. For even easier blending, you may chose to soak them in water overnight.

I have not been giving smoothies enough love lately. I am the first to call myself out on it. The funny thing is, I have to credit smoothies with helping me transition to a healthier, clean lifestyle. Because they’re so easy to whip up, they’re one of the first healthier food choices I started making on a consistent basis. They literally changed my life from the coffee and croissant pick-up to smoothies and nutrient-dense avocado or nut butter toast. I was so surprised when I started craving them. Almost like- how could this be happening?

So it’s only March. And Spring is almost here. It’s here tomorrow, as a matter of fact. But I challenge you to incorporate some of my smoothie recipes into your mornings 2-3 times a week. Before you know it, you will start craving them. It’s almost as if your body knows what’s good and it asks for what it needs. I never thought I could crave a smoothie the way I crave a donut. And the way I crave donuts is no joke, people. You know what I mean?

And the neat thing about this smoothie is; it has 3 types of greens: 1/2 an avocado, 1/2 a frozen zucchini, & 1 cup of organic baby spinach. It also has 1 tsp of good quality matcha powder for an extra antioxidant boost. And, I’ve been adding Vitamin C Acerola powder to ALL my smoothies this winter. You can’t taste it, yet it does so much for you in terms of boosting your immune system. Give it a go, let’s hope it gets green light from you, too!
