There’s something about the simplicity and phenomenal taste of this smoothie that’s led me to have it on repeat for the past week. It’s a glass of creamy goodnesss; packed with blackberries, coconut yogurt, raw honey & chia seeds. Just that- yes, quite literally 4 ingredients. I’ve become completely immersed in the world of smoothie-making and I’m a huge advocate for keeping nutrition high and complexity low.
I keep seeing smoothies that have close to 10 ingredients and making them probably costs a small fortune. I like to source most of my protein, fat and fiber from natural plant sources as opposed to relying heavily on formulated supplements and protein powder. That’s not to say I don’t buy good fats like flaxseed soil or would recommend bee pollen or fermented protein powder. But the point remains, those are optional additions. I want to make sure that my smoothie recipes remain affordable, nutritious, relatable and easy to follow. I hope you enjoy this simple, no-fail purple winner as much as I do!
Makes 1 Serving- You Will Need:
- 1 cup of blackberries
- 2/3 cup coconut yogurt
- 1 tablespoon of raw honey
- 1 tablespoon chia seeds
- 1/3 cup of water
You could also use vanilla coconut yogurt, but I would then omit the raw honey, as you probably won’t need it. Completely up to you. You’re getting, protein, fiber, fat, & fruit in a glass that tastes great. Blend all of the above on high until desired consistency is obtained. For a thicker texture, tried frozen blackberries and use the pulse setting, instead. Happy Drinking!
About Chia Seeds… these expand once placed in liquids, & I like to let my smoothie sit for at least 10 minutes before drinking it. But if I have to run out the door or need to drink it quickly, I usually soak the tablespoon of chia seeds beforehand in the 1/3 cup of water the smoothie requires. You could even leave them soaking overnight & you’ll be shocked to see how big they get!
