Green smoothies are pretty ubiquitous these days and it’s not hard to see why… They’re easy to prepare, promise to taste great and conceal the greens in them (and of course, everyone is having them)- so they must be good, right? Fortunately, they are. Green smoothies are an easy way to consume your greens, because let’s be honest- how many of us would actually have 1-2 cups of spinach or kale first thing in the morning?
There are endless variations to green smoothies and you can customize yours as you like. This is one of my favorite recipes for greens, it’s so nourishing and has that citrus-like feel that I often crave in the mornings. Best of all, only 5 ingredients and a <5 min prep time. My type of deal. Enjoy!
- 1 large orange
- 1 tightly packed cup of spinach
- 1/2 cup of vanilla coconut yogurt (dairy free)
- 1 large tablespoon of hemp hearts for protein
- a tablespoon of agave or honey (optional)
If you’d like, feel free to add agave for extra sweetness or ice for that frappucino style texture. A frozen banana cut into chunks is always something you can add to any smoothie, especially if you love bananas. A little potassium can’t hurt.
